There might be 3.5 weeks still left in the year, but we’re already living in 2025 at Domino. We’ve been talking to pros in all corners of the industry, collecting their predictions for what’s about to take off in design. (Psst: Our favorites will be highlighted in the next Home Front Trend Watch—stay tuned!) While I’m itching to try out chocolate brown and remixed checkerboard, designer Amber Lewis’s guest editorship comes at a good time. Her perspective is a timely reminder that while trends are a blast to play with, classic pieces—vintage or otherwise—are the best foundation. Take a look. —Lindsey Mather, digital director

What I’m loving right now: Timeless styles that can last instead of buying into anything overly trendy. For me, there isn’t one definition for timeless, but generally I find those pieces to be vintage inspired or have more traditional design elements.
Why I love it: If I love it today, I’ll love it for years to come. I don’t want to hop on one trend, then have a space look really dated in a year or so. There are ways to mix and match and freshen things up seasonally with accessories and patterns. My lifelong love of vintage definitely influences me as well! For my collection with Four Hands, I pulled inspiration from European vintage and pieces I’ve had in projects and my personal homes for years.
How I’d bring the look home:
Going big with wallpaper—no accent walls, go all in.
Mixing patterns and textures (above), like a floral with plaid pillows or a paisley throw with a stripe.
Adding a pop of vintage (of course!). I’m always sourcing, whether I’m traveling in Europe, scouring Etsy or Chairish, or at one of my U.S. faves, The Original Round Top Antiques Fair. When you find quality vintage furniture or accessories that you love, you have to scoop them up!
The aged finish of these brass lanterns feels lived-in without being too precious and would go with so many design styles.
A beautiful wallpaper to add texture and dimension.
